Summer Reading Challenge for an 8 year old

Big Man is an avid reader and spends much of his free time reading. He is usually first awake in the morning and will stay in his bed quietly reading until everyone else wakes. He never argues about going to bed as he knows the sooner he goes to bed the longer he has to read. Being such a keen reader he has read all of the age appropriate books we have at home. He was at a loss as to what to read next so I took the opportunity to create this reading challenge. The books with a (K) next to them are free on Kindle.

The Railway Children by E. Nesbit (K)
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell (K)
Trumpet of the Swan by E. B. White
The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley (K)
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (K)
The Red Fairy Book by Andrew Lang (K)
King of the Golden River by John Ruskin (K)
The Story of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting
A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond
Five Little Peppers and How They Grew by Margaret Sidney (K)

Summer Reading Challenge

I have created a printable for Big Man so that he can tick off the books he has read and check his progress. I have made the printable available in case anyone else finds it useful.

The incentive for finishing the challenge is a Family Movie Night. Big Man will choose a film adaptation of one of the books he has read. I am sure Big Man will have no problem completing the challenge and I have added a few more suggestions in case he finishes early.

The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum (K)
The Borrowers by Mary Norton
Five Children and It by E. Nesbit (K)
Charlotte's Web by E. B. White
